Biography

Line

İnci Aral was born in Denizli in 1944. After finishing Manisa Women’s Teaching College, she studied painting at the Gazi Technical Institute. She began writing short stories in 1976, was first published in 1979 and later moved to novels.

Her work focuses on the emotions of the individual shaped by cultural and sociological phenomena, social upheaval and breakdowns, problems between the sexes, lack of communication, the impossible nature of love, and issued related to existence.

Aral’s stories and novels have been published in Bulgaria, France, FYR Macedonia, Germany, Greece, Iraq, the Netherlands and the USA, and a novel is scheduled for publication in the United Kingdom in 2014.

She has published nine novels, eight short stories and two volumes of essays to date.
